Cross-stitch Pattern Generator FAQs
Our supporters have have the ability to remove the "Not For Sale" watermarks (both the pattern watermarks and the header text).
Paid supporters help us keep this site running and to reward those supporters we provide extra functionality for them.
Larger images take longer to upload, download and process, and use more space on our server (until they are automatically deleted).
Additionalty, since the images are going to be scaled down to pixel level (to be converted to a cross-stitch pattern), there is no need to upload large, highly detailed images.
No. We do not view, validation or check any images that are uploaded. Our generator will simply take your image and convert it into a cross-stitch pattern.
It is your responsibility to ensure you have the correct copyright permissions for any images you upload.
It's totally up to you! The default choice of Platypus - Banksia - Brisbane is a great place to start, as it quick and provides good results.
However, you can preview as many combinations as you wish to see which you prefer! A good tip is to open the pattern generation webpage in multiple browser windows so you can compare the different combinations.
The actual names of these techniques are meaningless to most people, so we decided to make them a little more memorable so it is easier to remember your favourite choices!
The choices for the Dithering techniques are names of Australian animals (ie. Platypus).
The choices for the Colour Distance techniques are names of Australian flora (ie. Wattle).
The choices for the Colour Reduction techniques are names of Australian cities (ie. Brisbane).
